Meet the Cast of GirlTalk Season Two!

Allie T. is a 7th grader at Trinity Middle School and the twin sister of another GirlTalk girl, Angie. She skis and runs cross-country, and serves on her school’s student council. Alexandra plans to become an obstetrician who delivers babies when she finishes school. Paging Dr. Ally – you rock!

Lydia M. is a 7th grader at the Falk School who dances, runs cross-country, and plays soccer. She loves English, science, and editing audio on her computer to make her own music and podcasts. This Click! Agent wants to put her chemistry skills to work making awesome safe cosmetics for girls – we can’t wait to try her Lydia Lime eye shadow!

Sarah D. is an 8th grader at Northgate Middle-High School who is an active member in her community youth group, plays softball, basketball, and volleyball, and shows her team spirit as a cheerleader. She remembers when she was only six years old and held a tarantula at the Pittsburgh Zoo – that’s when she got hooked on biology! Sarah plans to become an animal behaviorist when she gets older – will she save an endangered species or unlock the mysteries of animal communication? We’ll be listening to find out!

Abby M., a 7th grader at Falk Middle School, is fun, outgoing and loves to talk, whether it’s on the radio or to her friends. She loves art, plays soccer and cross-country, works on her school’s yearbook, and solves science mysteries as a Click! Agent during the summers. Abby also acts in plays and wants to write them someday. Broadway, look out for Abby!

Francesca C. is a 6th grader at St. Bede’s Elementary School who loves creative writing, science, and Latin. She’s a champion tennis player who plays almost every sport – volleyball, swimming, basketball, golf, and even fencing! Francesca enjoys talking with her friends, but is also a terrific listener. She plans to save the rainforest as an ecologist - we can see Francesca exploring the jungle and still finding time to get in a set of tennis!  She might even teach the elephants and chimps how to play!

Stephie O. is a 10th grader at Weirton Madonna High School who loves to read. She uses the computer for everything from homework to listening to music to chatting with her friends. It’s all great preparation for her career as a computer programmer and game designer. We know that Stephie will combine her love of literature with her super tech skills to create fabulous virtual worlds – while making her mark on this one!

Mara F. is a 10th grader at CAPA who loves to let her creativity shine through music and art. She enjoys playing guitar, writing, photography, blogging, and even making her own movies! Mara wants to develop a curriculum and website that combines science and art – we can’t wait to link to it from BrainCake.org!

Hannah E. is a 7th grader at Saint Joseph the Worker School who enjoys math and literature. She rocks out at karate and loves animals – she even takes care of her neighbor’s dog! Hannah uses the computer to create cards for her friends and family, and wants to put her design skills to good use as an architect of green buildings. Will she build the first solar-paneled dog house?

Lexie P. is an 8th grader at West Allegheny who loves asking questions. She plays three sports and dances, works on her school yearbook, and is a member of the National Junior Honor Society. This scholar wants to design environmentally sustainable buildings and work to serve her community – we know she’ll make the world a greener and brighter place!

Naoka G. is a 7th grader at The Ellis School who works on both the school newspaper and the yearbook. A swimmer and a tennis player, she loves to make music on her viola. Naoka is also a Click! Secret Agent who uses her math skills to solve science mysteries during the summer and serves as a teen advisor for BrainCake.org. She wants to be an astronaut and can’t wait to take her first spacewalk – Naoka is ready for take-off!!

Cassie M. is an 8th grader at Marshall Middle School who runs cross-country track and competes as a figure skater. When she’s not using her voice to interview GirlTalk mentors, Cassie sings as a soloist in chorus and makes the middle school announcements at her school. She plans to become a surgeon after school – look out for the singing Dr. Cassandra!

Mikaila R. is a 9th grader at Wilkinsburg High School who plays trumpet and clarinet, when she’s not busy as a cheerleader. Mikhaila has been scouring the web to find the perfect college where she can combine her love of dolphins, her favorite subject (English), AND take boxing classes. She’s not sure if she wants to be a lawyer or a tissue engineer – why not both?

Trinity R. is an 8th grader at Wilkinsburg Junior/Senior High School where she represents her class in student government. She loves algebra and science, plays guitar, and even makes her own recordings on her mp3 player! Trinity wants to be an astronomer when she finishes school – shoot for the stars, girl!

Kathryn D. is a sporty 7th grader at Sacred Heart Elementary School who plays softball, volleyball, and basketball. She works on her school newspaper and takes piano lessons, too. This Click! Agent loves Spanish and computer science, and wants to design video games or teach technology in city schools. Maybe Kathryn will create bilingual computer games to help students learn new languages!

Marlie G. is a 5th grader at North Starbane Intermediate School who works on her school newspaper, takes dance and art classes, and plays the clarinet. This Girl Scout enjoys playing basketball, too. Marlie loves math, science, and tech-ed, and she’s not sure if she wants to teach technology classes or become an interior decorator. Maybe this Click! Agent could create a home makeover computer program that solves the mystery of the messy room!

Natalie M. is a 5th grader at Bon Meade Elementary School who takes Scottish dancing lessons, plays the bagpipes, and wants to become an astronaut. She’s a Girl Scout who uses the computer for everything from surfing the web to creating PowerPoint presentations. This GirlTalk girl is a natural on the radio – she’s even created her own podcasts before! We love Natalie’s motto – Girls Rule!

Gretchen P. is an 8th grader at Pine Richland Middle School who is a total rock star at science. This Girl Scout also plays the violin and takes graphic design classes in her spare time. Her favorite subject is biology, which she plans to put to good use once she finishes school and starts her career as an epidemiologist. Will Gretchen discover a cure for  HIV/AIDS or create a vaccine for malaria? One thing is definite – Gretchen is going to help save the world!

Mia C., a gumshoe for her school newspaper, is a 7th grader at Carlow who plays softball and cross country. She loves expressing her creative side through drama, music, art, and creative writing.  In her free time, Mia interns at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh. She wants to become a biologist preserving the rainforest, or maybe saving the polar icecaps in Alaska, where she traveled with her family. No matter what the climate, we know Mia is one cool girl!

Angie T. is a 7th grader at Trinity Middle School and the twin sister of another GirlTalk girl, Ally. Angie is a green queen when it comes to transportation – she skis, runs cross-country, and bikes! She loves math and art, and wants to design awesome makeup products for a cosmetics firm or test new materials for manufacturers. Whether she’s creating foundation for faces or buildings, we know Angie will be great!

Emily K. is a 7th grader at CAPA, Pittsburgh’s arts high school, who loves creative writing, social studies, and math. She plays on two soccer teams AND two basketball teams, plus finds time to volunteer with refugees. Emily loves using the computer to play games and design webpages, and she wants to teach technology to inner-city students. Maybe Emily will create an awesome virtual soccer game and for your school and hers!

Meet the Cast of GirlTalk Season One!

Phoebe R., a 7th grader at Dorseville Middle School, is outgoing with a great smile. She thinks science and technology are cool, and uses the computer for basically everything except making breakfast! Artistic and creative, she plays the cello and the piano, while finding time for field hockey and horseback riding. She might be the next Maybelline chemist, so watch out for Phoebe Fuchsia lipstick!

Lauren H., a 9th grader at Seton La Salle High School, is already a seasoned radio star – she emceed for Radio Disney last summer and wants a career in radio announcing or promotions management. Her favorite subject is biology, she is active in choir, speech and debate, and she rides horses. Keep your ears open for Radio Lauren!

Kaylyn G., a 6th grader at Lincoln Technology Academy, loves math. She’s outgoing and loves to talk and share her opinion with her friends. A dancer and cheerleader, she wants to be an attorney when she finishes school. She is very interested in robotics too – maybe Kaylyn will invent the first robot lawyer!

Jamie F., a 9th grader at Brentwood High School, is interested in graphic design, art, English, and social studies. She plays piano and guitar, and is active in the yearbook committee and the Anime Fan Club at her school. She also loves getting conversations going, and participates in her school district’s Superintendent’s Council. She’s either going to be a video game designer or an architect. Whether she’s working in the virtual world or the real one, we know Jamie is going to make a difference!

Kellee C., a 7th grader at South Allegheny Middle School, loves learning about anything and everything. Outspoken, she takes acting and dancing classes. She wants to be a radio or T.V. personality who teaches kids about technology. Or maybe an engineer. Or a doctor – she loves it all! Kellee knows she can do it all – and will!

Kerry Jo G., an 8th grader at Independence Middle School, loves languages, physics, and technology. She’s outgoing and friendly, and likes when everyone has a chance to share their thoughts and opinions. She sings in the chorus at her school, acts in Drama Club, and works on both the yearbook and the school newspaper. In all her “spare time,” she volunteers at the library. Kerry Jo wants to be a string theorist – but she hates math! (wink wink) We think Kerry Jo might unlock the secrets of the universe!

Hannah D., a 7th grader at Frick ISA, likes art, gym, and math. She’s a little shy around people but is encouraging and a great listener. She loves dancing and running to stay fit and have fun. A career in medicine might be good fit for her – especially if she can be a doctor in her favorite place, Disney World!

Juliana K., a 5th grader at the David E. Williams School, loves science, math, and English. She’s brave and outgoing, and is usually the first person to speak up in class. She plays sports and is a cheerleader, and also plays three instruments – piano, trumpet, and baritone. An active Girl Scout, she also works on her school’s newspaper, and with her church group. She wants to be a medical researcher who finds cures to diseases – very cool!

Tara D., a 6th grader at Jefferson Middle School, really likes math, science and English – she’s even a poet! Creative and outgoing, she loves participating in performing arts groups as an actress or by playing her clarinet. By the way, she’s also a gymnast and a dancer. Tara wants to help troubled kids as a child psychiatrist – we know she’s already someone kids want to be around!

Kendall F., a 6th grader at West Allegheny Middle School, likes math, science, English, art, and home economics. She’s a computer whiz who might be shy, but who is always kind and fun. Both a cheerleader and an artist, she wants to become a physicist who experiments with hydrogen fuel storage. Will Kendall invent the first flying car or one that uses all renewable fuel?

Danielle L., an 8th grader at North Hills Junior High School, loves science, algebra, English and home economics. She’s a dancer, and a great listener who enjoys babysitting her neighbors and volunteering at a local nursing home. Danielle is interested in becoming a biologist or botanist who studies plants to find cures for diseases. Go Green Girl!

Carolyn K., a 6th grader at Bellevue Elementary School, loves math. She may be shy, but she’s not afraid to speak up when she has something important to say. Carolyn plays softball and basketball, works on her school’s newspaper, and acts in school plays. Carolyn wants to be an astronaut, and we know one thing for sure – she’s flying high as an interviewer for GirlTalk.

Cole S. is a 10th grader at the Pittsburgh High School for the Creative and Performing Arts. She loves biology, geometry, Spanish and history, and works on the school newspaper as well as volunteering for Amnesty International. She’s an intense, outgoing person and is most at home on the ice rink, where she plays ice hockey. Cole really likes technology, and wants to use her skills to design and program video games. We think that Cole will invent the next killer app for iPod and become a humanitarian – all before she’s 30.

Elizabeth G., an 8th grader at Mellon Middle School, likes science, math, and Spanish. She plays violin and piano, is a Girl Scout, and is a member of her school’s MathCounts team and literary magazine. She also loves playing tennis. Elizabeth had a chance to go behind the scenes at the Pittsburgh Zoo and feed the giraffes, which inspired her to be a veterinarian! House pets and zoo animals alike will be in great hands with Elizabeth!
